How it works
- Upload the shape to press or cast
- Set the horizontal split and body dimensions
- Inspect the cavity and matching piston alignment
- Download the female body and male piston

Create a female cavity and male piston workflow for shallow press work. The press configuration uses Z-axis split movement and keeps the male piston as the lower half for the studio preview and output. Supported mesh inputs are STL, OBJ, 3MF, GLB, GLTF and FBX. STEP, STP and IGES should be exported to a mesh format first. The geometry workflow runs in your browser. Quote and account actions are separate services and are only used when you submit them.
A press mold uses matching geometry to press a material into a desired shallow shape. This workflow generates a female cavity and a male piston rather than a conventional side-split casting mold.
Upload a supported mesh, select the press workflow and review the cavity, piston, padding and split controls. Generate the parts, inspect the fit in the preview and then print the STL output.
The press workflow is designed around a Z-axis opening direction so the piston moves directly toward and away from the cavity. That is different from side-opening mold families.
That depends on the material, required force and the printed material you choose. AutoMold3D generates geometry; validate force, temperature and safety requirements for your specific application.
Reuse depends on load, material, print settings and wear at the contact surfaces. Inspect the printed parts and avoid assuming a universal service life.
